Microfluidic cartridge development
CSEM SA
CSEM is a privately held, R&D center established in 1984 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. From the beginning, CSEM has been committed to both applied and order-related R&D. This bridge function between economics and science is still a core aspect of the company, and CSEM has continuously adapted its research areas to the needs of industry.

At CSEM we have developed a disposable microfluidic cartridge to pretreat whole blood to plasma which is then analysed on a bio-photonic chip with on-cartridge valves, on-cartridge reservoirs and on-cartridge pumps. With the cartridge we also designed a corresponding instrument. The cartridge had been prototyped at CSEM and finally outsourced for injection moulding. All the characterization has been done at CSEM like imaging, leaktest, laser scanning microscopy...
